My Journey to Lake of the Woods, VA
My journey to the Lake of the Woods did not start with me but my Mom and Dad who bought here after retiring from 30 years as an officer in United States Air Force. With grand-kids on the way, they wanted a place where the whole family could come on weekends, relax, and just have a good time. While they painstakingly considered many other great local communities Lake of the Woods satisfied all that was on their wish list. They started looking for homes for sale at the Lake and ended up finding a gorgeous 2 story home right on Keaton’s lake. After they closed they listed and sold their home in Manassas, VA and moved here full time.
As luck would have it, my Sister and her family were also in the market for a new place to call home. Having spent a few weekends kayaking and fishing on Keaton’s lake they too began looking for homes here as well. As you know Lake of the Woods has a nice mix of homes: “A” frames, colonials, ramblers, Cape Cods, and even a sprinkling of geo-domes. After an extensive search they fell in love with a new rambler home near Hollyfield and Sweetbriar Parks. That just added one more reason for my wife Megan and me to spend our free time here too.
One thing is for sure, after spending even just a little time here at the Lake it’s hard to not fall in love with this place. When it came time for us to consider moving, the choice was very easy for us to make. We chose Lake of the Woods too! We were very fortunate to have found our dream home and have been happy here ever since. LOWA has something for everyone! We love the 24 hour security that drive by often, our choice of lakes to fish or kayak on, all the activities and events, and of course we treasure family being so close. After spending weekends at the lake then actually living here ourselves I know we made the right choice to call Lake of the Woods our home!
