Good News: Home sales increase in Va. for 3rd quarter
An estimated 31,176 homes in Virginia were sold in the third quarter, a 13 percent increase from the third quarter of 2014, according to a report released Wednesday by the Virginia Association of Realtors and Godanriver.com.
Increased sales were experienced in every price range, except for homes that sold for more than $1 million. Also each of seven regions in Virginia experienced higher year-over-year sales, with the exception of the Central Valley, where the number of home sales declined 7.2 percent to 1,678.
In Central Virginia — which is made up of 18 counties, Richmond and the Tri-Cities — 5,262 houses were sold in the third quarter, up 13.1 percent from the same period a year ago, according to the report.
The median sales price in Virginia, with half the houses selling for more and half for less, increased 2.3 percent year-over-year to $265,000 in the third quarter.
